My history

I wanted to take a little time to talk about my family. In the picture below is my Grandmother, her mother and their siblings. They were all raised in the south, Atlanta G.A to be exact. My grandmother use to tell me stories of the old segragated south. She and her family grew up right down the street from Marting Luther King and played with him. She remembered how is was to ride in the back of the bus, how she had to go in places from the back. She and her siblings have had full and rich lives. I could go on about how much they have done and what they have done. But I don't think it would be enough space on here.

During the recent election there were some blacks that I encountered while working with the Obama camp , whom proudly stated that they wouldn't be voting. This was in me eye complete disregard for the southern past. I didn't have on a Obama shirt, I had on a shirt with my family tree shirt. I wasn't upset to the point of cursing but I was hurt. I showed them my shirt and pointed out each one and what they had done to contribute to the fact that they had the right to vote. By the time I was finish there were 5 standing at the door instead of 1. Rather they voted or not I really couldn't tell you. Just wanted to share.

My history is rich. American history is rich as a whole. Many people died and sacraficed so that we could have the rights that we do today. That was not the first time we have been discouraged to participate in the election process. Many feel that their voices would be lost especially after the actions of past elections. There is no one that you will find whom was more passionate about the election then myself. I would work 16 hour days and go get the word out. I posted blogs on my voting experience and the whole nine.

I am proud of my country and my past. They have both helped shaped who I am to day as a person. I have a appreciation for growing up in Atlanta. It's rich and diverse culture is and has been a VERY beautiful thing for many people. Obama is not a black president, he is America's president and another chapter in my history.
